Miranda Sketch Art: REBRANDED | How I rebranded myself as an artist

Rebrand: change the corporate image of (a company or organization).

How to rebrand yourself as an artist: there is no text book answer for this. Rebranding is NOT something I have taken lightly. I have been thinking about this for literal months. I think it's normal to go back and forth in your mind several times before landing on a decision, and that's exactly what I did.

When I started my business in 2021, the only digital asset I had was an Instagram account that I had created years prior under the name @mirandasketchart. I thought about if I should change it right then and there before moving forward with anything else, but I registered my business with the state under the same name. My future was cemented into history as Miranda Sketch Art...for now. Nothing is forever if you don't want it to be!

A few months ago, I began thinking about what exactly I wanted the future of my business to look like. I hired a career counselor to work with me on making my brand more clear and concise and asked her input on if I should change my company name. I asked my partner, family, friends, strangers on Instagram. Ultimately, no one could make this decision except for me.

I decided to do what I do best as an artist and graphic designer and brainstorm new ideas, logos, names, branding, and concepts for myself. I think creating something for you is harder than anything else. We as humans are so self-critical and that definitely crept it's way into my thinking and nothing seemed good enough. The daunting task of changing all of my branding, social media sites, and documents with the state was also a huge factor in this decision.

One day I was doodling on my iPad when I came across a document I had used to practice my signatures and BOOM! It hit me. What better way to represent ME and my brand than to incorporate my own signature into the new logo. I wrote out my signature a few more times and brought it into Illustrator to mess around with, I decided to add a paintbrush and used Adobe's new generative recolor tool to come up with new brand colors.

I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! I think I've come a long way since my early branding and colors – check them out below. Who knows, maybe (probably) I'll change my branding again some day but for the first time in a really long time, I feel at peace and at home with this. If you're struggling with how to rebrand yourself, I would love to chat. Reach out to me and I'll see where I can help you.

Bright colored logo with retro text used as my first branding for Miranda Sketch Art

My second logo using a bubble letter standard font with a soft and whimsical pastel color palette.

My current branding which includes the words Miranda Sketch in a half circle on top of my hand written MS signature and the word art underneath. This is an alternate logo to my main one which also includes a paintbrush.
